BTU’s : Turn up the heat!

BTU – British thermal unit is a traditional unit of heat. It is defined as the amount of heat required to raise the temperature of one pound of water by one degree Fahrenheit. Generally, more BTUs correlate to greater heating potential. However, the amount of BTUs needed to heat a specific area varies, based on climate and home efficiency. (Forge Distribution)

When choosing the perfect fireplace for your dream room, whether it be a well-insulated living room or a dark and cool basement your fireplace’s BTU range will be the most important factor. Picking a fireplace unit with high BTU and little adaptability for a small room will cause your fireplace to heat the room quickly, making a fireless fireplace your focal point. The flame may be big and beautiful for those 10 fierce minutes, but after it reaches a good temperature it will turn off and the ambiance will quickly fade. However, choosing a fireplace that has a wide range of adjustability in flame size will allow you to not only get the big fireplace appearance, but allow it to function on a lower setting for longer use.
